Press Release-Kellogg-Keebler – September 2006

Macon, Georgia – Art Barry III, SIOR, Partner and Associate Broker of Coldwell Banker Commercial Eberhardt & Barry closed the sale of Keebler/Kellogg Snack Foods Company in Macon, Georgia on September 29, 2006 at a sales price of $3,500,000.

The former snack food company contained 454,476 square feet of food manufacturing space on 42.40 acres. Keebler/Kellogg Snack Foods began producing cookies and snack foods at the Macon facility in 1953, employing up to 600 employees. Keebler/Kellogg laid off 450 workers in April 2006 when the plant shut down operations.

The purchaser, California Cereal Products, Inc. of Oakland, California, is a cereal bakery enterprise which will manufacture bulk cereals for generic and specialty cereal retailers. California Cereal Products plans to employ up to 235 people to manufacture cereal at the Macon facility.
