William Carter Company
Barnesville, Georgia – Art Barry, III of Coldwell Banker Commercial Eberhardt & Barry, Inc. dosed the sale of the original William Carter Infantwear Company in Barnesville, Georgia. The facility consists of 297,000 square feet on 12.8 acres of land. The facility was purchased by Michael H. Jackson, an Atlanta developer, for a planned redevelopment to include residential, retail and industrial uses. This redevelopment includes continued leasing for industrial use and possible residential of development on the second and third stories of the original mill, constructed in the late 1800’s. Some portions of the original textile mill will be demolished to make way for new retail development. The “Carter Mill” was used during the recent past as a textile materials storage/distribution facility for Leggett and Platt as well as Carter’s Manufacturing.
