Animal Health Sciences, which manufactures various products for domestic pets and livestock/equine care, is expected to employ more than 100 people at the 275,000-square-foot facility, the release stated. It is expected to begin production later this year. The company has more than 400 employees at its Smyrna facility.

The $20 million expansion includes furniture, fixtures and equipment and “the economic impact in payroll will be $8 million,” Barry said. “It’s a big deal.”

Yamaha closed the plant in 2007, the release stated.

Barry brokered the multi-million dollar sale to FPC Southern Properties, Inc. for their use as a facility for production and distribution of bonded grade paper and paper products. The purchaser, based in Appleton, Wisconsin, will provide up to fifty jobs within the facility in upcoming years. Arthur P. Barry III represented both parties in this transaction.

The former snack food company contained 454,476 square feet of food manufacturing space on 42.40 acres. Keebler/Kellogg Snack Foods began producing cookies and snack foods at the Macon facility in 1953, employing up to 600 employees. Keebler/Kellogg laid off 450 workers in April 2006 when the plant shut down operations.

The purchaser, California Cereal Products, Inc. of Oakland, California, is a cereal bakery enterprise which will manufacture bulk cereals for generic and specialty cereal retailers. California Cereal Products plans to employ up to 235 people to manufacture cereal at the Macon facility.
